About Sanasella

Lena traded chairs instead of careers

I was born into a family of hairdressers and, ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to become one too.

Unfortunately, the hairdressing profession left me with a stiff neck and shoulders. After ten years of treatment, I started to consider changing careers. Not because I had stopped loving hairdressing, but because the level of daily pain was no longer worth it.

That's when I had the idea that allowed me to continue in my job – a completely new hairdressing chair.

In collaboration with hairdressers, ergonomists, physiotherapists, and the business development agency Innovation Norway, Sanasella became a reality. We've developed the market's lowest chair with a unique range, ensuring flexible working positions and contributing to a better working life for hairdressers.

Now I can work long days in the salon without any pain — and it's all thanks to the Sanasella chair.

Designed in Norway, made in Norway.

All Sanasella chairs are manufactured in Lyngdal, a town in the southern part of Norway. Lena and her husband Geir, who works as production manager, stress the importance of taking responsibility for the entire value chain to ensure that Sanasella can grow – both domestically and internationally too.

“We have sold Sanasella chairs to hair salons throughout Scandinavia  – Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland – something which is absolutely fantastic.”
